I have had nine years experience in education, from classroom teacher to head of department. I also worked as a mentor training teachers in the PGCE programme. I’m now pursuing a new career, having reached as far as I’d like in education, but I am still passionate about education and am hugely concerned about the state of the British education system and how well it is preparing young people for the world of work.

I read your Guardian blog with interest re the teaching of RE in schools. I am a producer for the Sunday programme on BBC Radio 4 and wondred whether I might have a brief telephone conversation with you regarding a possible interview? What number would be best to contact you on and when?

Look forward to hearing from you soon
